This month Close to My Heart is featuring the Gimme Sugar Paper Suite, so I chose to CASE the beautiful layout on page 49 of the Seasonal Expressions 1 catalog. What do I mean by CASE? Copy and Share EVERYTHING!

Want to see this pretty layout in the catalog but you don't have a copy of our new catalog? You will receive one free with your first order placed on my website or you can see it here online, or let me know you want one and I will be happy to drop one in the mail to you.

Here is my CASE'd layout..

This layout has so many interesting parts and many do not become apparent until you start assembling your supplies. The base is watercolor splattered White Daisy cardstock (1385). The splattering is super easy. I mixed two of the pinks from our Watercolor Paints (Z3132) in a well of the lid and added some extra water.
Then I chose the medium brush from our Paintbrush Set (Z3188), loaded it up with paint and holding it about 18 inches above the cardstock, tapped the middle of the brush on my other hand. Watch out because the paint can fly to other projects as well! I added more paint to the brush and splattered until I was satisfied. I set the paper aside to dry, which doesn't take long.

The next step is to adhere the background pieces. And here are the measurements.

The pattern pieces and zip strips are from our Gimme Some Sugar Paper Pack (X7228B). The gold pieces are our Gold Glitter paper (Z3238). The dark pieces are Peacock cardstock (X5958), the pinkish pieces are Smoothie cardstock (X5985), and the white strip above the wood grain patterned paper is stamped flowers using our Gimme Some Sugar - Scrapbooking (D1758) Stamp Set and Tangerine Ink (Z2809).

After I adhered the strips (starting at the bottom of the base page between 2.5" and 9.5"), I adhered two .25" x 12" pieces of Bashful cardstock ((X5941) on each side of the pieced background.

Now I am ready to assemble the rest of the layout. I cut out circles using our Basic Circles Thin Cuts (Z3318). The OH MY Stars is stamped on a large White Daisy circle with Peacock Ink (Z2849). By the way, all of the stamps used in this layout are from the Gimme Some Sugar - Scrapbooking Stamp Set. Circles were cut from the PML cards on the PML sheet in the Gimme Some Sugar paper pack.

The roses were stamped using Bashful Ink (Z2819) for the base and Pixie Ink (Z2844) for the detail. The little flowers were stamped with Bashful Ink. The leaves were stamped with Juniper Ink (Z2865). And do you see the stars? They were second generation stamped with Tangerine Ink. Second generation stamping is when you ink your stamp with ink and stamp on a piece of scratch paper before you stamp on your cardstock piece. It gives you a lighter colored stamped image.

The Gimme Some Sugar paper suite has the most adorable embellishments, Gimme Some Sugar Cork Shapes (Z4153). They are made out of cork and are in flower and heart shapes. I have scattered them across my layout.

Of course, I liberally used Thin 3 D Foam Tape (Z2060) to add some dimension to my layout. And I finished the layout with a Peacock Stitched Ribbon (Z4144) Bow.

The photos for this layout are portrait 3" x 4" matted with 3 1/8" x 4 1/8" Smoothie cardstock and then matted again with 3 1/4" x 4 1/4" White Daisy Cardstock.

Now please head on over to my Partner in CASEing, Melissa Robinson, and check out how to make her cute little cards. I know I am going to head over there!

Tune in again, on April 26th, for the next episode and be sure to CASE one/all of the artwork we highlight and tag it  #ctmhinanycase on social media. We'll come looking for you and you may be a prize winner!

April Stamp of the Month Blog Hop - Color Your Life

Welcome to the April Stamp of the Month
Blog Hop!

This month I am following {Michelle Stewart's Blog.}   We have 22 Close to My Heart Consultants participating in this month’s Stamp of the Month Blog Hop. If you lose your place while traveling through our blog hop, the complete list of participants can be found here.

The April Stamp of the Month is entitled Color Your Life (S1804) (Set of  12).   Here is a picture of this stamp set:

I really, really, REALLY wanted to make this into a card but was very stumped as to what I wanted to say.  I mean, who wants a card that says be Kind (even when they could use the reminder).  LOL  I even thought of taking the letters separately and making new words with them but after sleeping on it and going to my spiritual meeting today, I decided to make a special card for people who are going through trials in their life and could use more than a thinking of you card.

Here is my card.

As usual, my creative process went one direction and ended up in an entirely different place.  I was watching a video on the faux bleaching technique and pulled out some of my reinkers, Spray Pens (Z1380), and my All-purpose mats (Z2405).  I filled each of my Spray Pens with 10 drops of reinker and then added water until the spritz bottle was half full.

I had 6 different colors and came out and sprayed randomly onto my White Daisy cardstock (1385).  I let it dry and that made the sentiment panel of my card.  I will be posting a video this week showing how much fun it is to create backgrounds for your cards using reinkers and our Spray pens.

I am kind of chuckling now that the name of the stamp set is Color Your Life.  I managed to make quite a few colorful backgrounds and thoroughly enjoyed the process.

Something to remember is that these backgrounds take a little bit of time to dry and are a little bit warped.  I always use plenty of adhesive to tape the panel down to the mat that is backing it and that seems to straighten it out.  I also start off with a larger White Daisy panel that I need and cut it down to the size I want.

The sentiment is stamped with our Archival Black Ink (Z3271) and I doodled around the edge with our LePen Journaling Pen (Z1979).  I even colored in some of the doodles on the stamped image because I wanted it to "POP".  Then I assembled the card into a 4 1/4" x 9 1/2" card.  The background paper used is from our Whimsy Paper Fundamentals (Z3350) and I added a strip of Black Glitter Paper (Z3236).

The April Stamp of the Month Stamp Set can be purchased for $17.95 or if you purchase $50 in CTMH products, you can add this stamp set to your order for an additional $5.  This stamp set is only available between April 1 – April 30, 2018.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I would love for you to show me a little love by leaving me a comment and then please go to our next artist, {Cat Nowak} and see what she has made with this adorable stamp set.

You can purchase this stamp set as well as any of the supplies listed above on my website.

This week I chose to CASE the GORGEOUS card on page 45 of the Annual Inspirations catalog. What do I mean by CASE? Copy and Share EVERYTHING!

Want to see this pretty card in the catalog but you don't have a copy of our new catalog? You will receive one free with your first order placed on my website or you can see it here online, or let me know you want one and I will be happy to drop one in the mail to you.

Here is my pretty card.

I decided to change it up a bit though and instead of stamping and embossing on White Daisy cardstock, as they did in the catalog, I stamped and embossed on our Vellum paper (Z3367). Did you know that you can emboss on Vellum paper (Z3367)? It embosses beautifully with no burning. So pretty and delicate.

I adhered a 3.25" x 4.5" piece of Bashful cardstock ((X5941) to the center of a 4" x 5.25" piece of the linen colored burlap patterned paper from our Basics Fundamental Paper Packet (Z3353). I then adhered a piece of the "loving" ribbon for our Basics Ribbon Pack (Z3364) 2 inches from the bottom. I tied a piece of knotted ribbon on the side. Now I could adhere this to a card base from our incredibly low priced (with great quality) White Cards and Envelopes Value Pack (X254) as shown.

The sentiment is stamped on a 3" x 4.25" piece of our White Daisy cardstock (1385) with Black Ink (Z2805) using our stamp set, Happily Ever After (D1747).

I popped up the White Daisy sentiment panel with Thin 3 D Foam Tape (Z2060). I absolutely love our Complements and the Art Department used our Better Together Complements (Z3357), but I chose to cut our Silver Foil Paper (Z3366) into small flowers and use them instead. Here is the Cricut Design Space file for you to use. You will need to have our Cricut Flower Market (Z3285) and Artiste to cut this file.

I recorded a short video to explain the embossing and coloring onto the Vellum paper. Watch this short video to see my technique for coloring on Vellum and some tips I have for embossing.

Products used in the video include: Versamark Ink Pad (Z891), Watercolor Pencils (new colors coming soon!), Paintbrush set (Z3188), Ranger Silver Super Fine Embossing Powder (Z2067), and Craft Heater (Z555).

To embellish my flowers, I added a small white gem in each of their middles from the Grey Enamel Gems Pack (Z3089).

Now please head on over to my Partner in CASEing, Melissa Robinson, and check out how to make her cute little cards. I know I am going to head over there!

Tune in again, on April 12th, for the next episode and be sure to CASE one/all of the artwork we highlight and tag it  #ctmhinanycase on social media. We'll come looking for you and you may be a prize winner!

Did you know that there is an incredible sale going on at Close to My Heart right now? It is called Die-Namite. What it means is that we have a bunch of thin cuts on sale at 25 - 30% off.

So I decided to use one of these thin cuts - a gift box to CASE the cute gift box on page 68 of the Seasonal Expressions 1 catalog. What do I mean by CASE? Copy and Share EVERYTHING!

Don't have a copy of our new catalog? You will receive one free with your first order placed on my website or you can see it here online, or let me know you want one and I will be happy to drop one in the mail to you.

Here is my adorable gift box.

The box is cut with the thin cut, Gift Box (Z4150), that during the month of March is 25% off. You can cut and decorate this box in 30 minutes max. Add some candy or a gift card and you have a very nice little gift.

This box is made using Charcoal cardstock (X5953). I ran the thin cut through my cuttlebug and cut the box out. I also used the rectangular shaped die through with Almond cardstock (X5949) to mat the sentiment. The sentiment is stamped in our White Daisy cardstock (1385) with Charcoal Ink (Z2831) using our stamp set, Treat for You (D1769). I cut the White Daisy cardstock into a 1.25" x 2.25" so that the Almond cardstock equally mats the sentiment.

One thing I like about this thin cut is that even the score lines are indicated once you cut out the box and it is super quick.

Tip: There are different ways to cut with the cuttlebug. I prefer to place the cardstock on my "B" plate and then the thin cut with the cutting side down. This enables me to see where I am cutting.

So, I placed the darker side of the cardstock up so that it ends up on the outside.

I folded the box on the score lines and was not thrilled that the cardstock started cracking. Yikes!

The thin cut is great in that it shows the score line, but to avoid the cracking I chose to score the lines with my Scor-pal. Voila! No cracking!

My next Tip: adhere the flaps of the box together with Glue Dots (1772), one on each flap. Easy Peasy!

Tip: Decorate the back of the box so that you can easily open your gift box.

In the original picture, I am betting that the Silver Shimmer Trim (Z1799) used to decorate was probably cut in half to make it thinner. Well, I would rather die than cut shimmer trim in half so I am using the full 1/2" wide shimmer trim. I cut it at 5.25".

First I placed my flowers down (for placement). The flowers were cut from our Flower Market cartridge (Z3285), one of my favorite. Here is my design space file. The flowers were cut with Pansy cardstock (X5966) and I used Pixie cardstock (X5984) for the centers. Since our cardstock is two toned, all flowers were cut from the same piece. They were just turned over when you wanted a darker color.

Once I adhered the flowers with my Bonding Memories Glue Pen (Z553), I placed the Silver Shimmer trim above it. Any trim that was above the edges was trimmed off.

Cut these ends off

My last Tip is using the Bashful Shimmer brush (Z3400) over your stamped sentiment. Let your stamped image dry well. Then take a very dry Shimmer Brush and lightly dab the brush around your stamped sentiment. Try to avoid the stamped image as much as possible but go right up to it with the Shimmer Brush.

This is what your stamped image looks like when you don't dry the brush well enough.

And this is what it looks like when I stamped it again and dried out my brush.

After you check out my sweet gift box, head on over to my Partner in CASEing, Melissa Robinson, and check out how to make her sweet treat bag.

Tune in again, on March 22nd, for the next episode and be sure to CASE one/all of the artwork we highlight and tag it  #ctmhinanycase on social media. We'll come looking for you and you may be a prize winner!

We have lots of thin cuts to choose from.  I really wanted to work with the Stargazer Paper Pack (X7229B) so I chose to use the Stargazer Cardmaking Stamps and Thin Cuts (Z4157)

I found some instructions on Splitcoast Stampers to make this card and it will fit into a 4.25" x 5.5" envelope.

Here is my card:

I love how it came out.  Here is a link to the instructions on Splitcoast Stampers.

My astronauts, rocket and telescope are colored with Shin Han markers.  I used Barely Beige for the skin with a touch of Tender Pink for the cheeks.  The blue I used is Turquoise Blue.  I used Carmine, Warm Gray 04, Golden Yellow, Pastel Green (for the blonde hair and rocket fire - looks yellow), Clay for the other astronaut's brown hair, and Marigold.

I also added a touch of Clear Shimmer Brush (Z3293) to my stars to give them a little shine.

I have been entranced with 3 step stepping and have been overjoyed that we are offering stamps that will allow me to easily do this. The Thoughtful Bird Stamp (D1739) is an example of a 3 step stamp. It gives you a stamp for each layer of the bird so you can easily add detail by just stamping with different colors. The card on Page 72 of the Annual Expressions catalog is the piece of art from the catties that I have chosen to CASE - Copy and Share EVERYTHING!

Don't have a copy of our new catalog? You will receive one free with your first order placed on my website or you can see it here online, or let me know you want one and I will be happy to drop one in the mail to you.

Since 3 step stamping is new to many people, I decided to make a video showing how quickly this card goes together.

After you check out my sweet card, head on over to my Partner in CASEing, Melissa Robinson, and check out how to make her exquisite Sending you Prayers card. Here is my finished Thoughtful Bird Card.

Follow my video for step to step instructions.  You will need to assemble these supplies

Close to My Heart Think Pink Blog Hop

Welcome to the Think Pink Blog Hop!

This hop I am following {Melissa Robinson's Blog.}   We have 16 Close to My Heart Consultants participating in our Think Pink Blog Hop. If you lose your place while traveling through our blog hop, the complete list of participants can be found here.

Don't you love seeing new product?  I know that I do.  I wanted to make a card box and 6 cards for my January Card Club.  So I decided to bring back the card I made for the January Stamp of the Month Blog Hop and add 5 more.  Then I found a pattern for an easy to make box and Voila! here is my project.

During February, you can celebrate what matters most with a select group of pink and gold items available at 25% off the retail price and three exclusive product bundles available at 30% off the retail price. These bundles include the Bashful—Color of the Year bundle and two bundles with supplies to make the Butterfly Mobile Papercrafting Project. Click here to see this promotion.

I decided to use all of the pinks from this promotion - Raspberry, Blossom, Pixie, and Bashful in my artwork.  I also added some of the gold foil that you can also get for 25% off.  I love the richness of pink and gold together.

Yesterday would have been our Boston Terrier, Beau's, 15th birthday.  Each birthday was special for this dear dog and I was pretty sure each would be his last.  Well his 14th was his last.  Beau died a few months ago and we really miss him.  Our fur babies really hold a big place in my life and my heart.

So I decided to make a rainbow bridge card.  I have tons of friends I could send this card to who would appreciate knowing that I share their feelings about losing a fur baby.  Here are my cards - one for a dog and one for a cat:

I added Black cardstock for the dog and Pewter for the cat.  No stamping needed for these cards.  Just a Bonding Memories Glue Pen and Thin 3D Foam Tape.

I am sharing the Design Space file for these cards so you can make them yourself.  These are 4.25" x 5.5" cards.    The design space file can be found here.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I would love for you to show me a little love by leaving me a comment and then please go to our next artist, {Catherine Nowak's Blog} and see what she has made with this adorable stamp set.

You can purchase this stamp set as well as any of the supplies listed above on my website.
